I was really looking forward to work with this fabulous ensemble, the guys of Proyecto Ocnos. And finally here you have a new piece for bass clarinet and guitar.
I had a lot of fun writing it (as always with the guitar!)
Sorry that the quality of the recording is not the best. I'll try to save money for a studio next time.

The Kraken (sketch about one creature from Bestiarium)

ImagenPicture: Angela Ribera.

We had the opportunity to work deeply on one of the creatures of our project Bestiarium, the Kraken, for our event at the Salon of Aesthetic Experiments of the Graduiertenschule der UdK, where I'm working now.
What does the kraken looks like, what language he could speak, where and how many tentacles does he have and could be placed on stage and also among the audience, how his sounds could be moved on the space,..  We tried to answer all these questions on this work-in-progress piece.

Kleines Stück Himmel nominated for the IKARUS PREIS 2016!

Kleines Stück Himmel ist nominated for the IKARUS PREIS 2016 Award!.  A prize for outstanding theater productions for children and young people in Berlin!

Kleines Stück Himmel (A piece of heaven).
Musical theatre for children from 2.

Composing new music for children is always a challenge but composing for this project is also like a branch of the Bestiarium's project that tries to reach an even younger audience.  But my research's questions are still remaining: If children's hearing is still free from the conventionalities of traditional harmony, why should we assume that they will not be able to cope with contemporary musical language?, why then offering them only a part of our musical culture when, in reality, they are the most capable of facing the most diverse sound languages?
We'll see.

Picture
Bestiarium is a stage project introducing its first results in the framework of the Salon of Aesthetic Experiments at Haus der Kulturen der Welt. The action takes place along a sounding journey in which the leading character and the audience share the stage and interact with some of the fantasy beings of the mythology of different cultures and times. These creatures are represented by little instrumental constellations whose listening space is amplified by means of different sounding objects placed at specific locations of the stage.

With the collaboracion of Iñigo Giner Miranda, Àngela Ribera and the Ensemble DieOrdnungderDinge.
Project in the framework of the Salon of Aesthetic Experiments, a cooperation between the Graduates School at the Forum for Post Graduate Studies at Berlin University of Arts and the Haus der Kulturen der Welt. With the kind support of the Einstein Foundation Berlin.

Fellow of the Graduate School for the Arts and Sciences 2014-2016!

I am very very happy to announce that I have been selected for a fellowship at the Graduate School of the Arts 2014-16. This postgradual, interdisciplinary and international program dialogs between the arts, sciences and humanities and offers the best context for the start-up of my project Bestiarium, since it provides the ideal breeding ground for the development of refecting spaces that may transcend the merely scientifc or artistic, and that may contribute to make art go forward, towards a holistic, global discipline. The syllabus of this postgraduate program is extremely interesting to me because it includes activities of manifold nature (colloquia, workshops, presentations) and, what is more, it offers the possibility to teach courses at the university level.

I'll give you more info about
Bestiarium very soon!
